Looking for fun and adventurous outdoor activities for your summer days? Springfield has a growing network of 68 miles of greenway trails, and 72 miles of on-street bike routes.

Springfield Area Biking Trails

Frisco Highline Trail
The Frisco Highline Trail is Missouri's second longest Rail-Trail, winding over 35 miles through the scenic Ozarks connecting Springfield to Bolivar, Missouri. Wheels still turn on this former railroad corridor, but nowadays it's bicycle wheels spinning in place of rolling iron locomotives.

Trail Heads: located in Springfield, Willard, Walnut Grove, Wishart and Bolivar.

Wilson’s Creek Greenway
Wilson's Creek Greenway now connects to South Creek Greenway in southwest Springfield! This trail is lovely and travels through the popular Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park. As this trail and others begin to connect, a greenbelt is forming to surround our community, providing more public trail access and more opportunities for alternative transportation routes. Trail users will also be able to connect to downtown soon from this trail too, as it will eventually connect to Jordan Creek Greenway.

Trail Heads: located at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park and Ewing Park, as well as access via South Creek and Jordan Creek greenways.

Galloway Creek Greenway
Galloway Creek Greenway runs north-south in southeast Springfield. It was designated a National Recreation Trail in 2001, by the National Park Service and American Trails, and was the first urban trail in Missouri to receive this honor. It begins at Pershing Middle School on Seminole Street, just east of Lone Pine Avenue, and heads south through historic Sequiota Park and the village of Galloway, then to the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, concluding at the scenic James River bridge. The trail connects to a short piece of the James River Greenway and James River Water Trail - both of which highlight the natural beauty of the Ozarks that runs right through Springfield!

Trail Heads: located at Pershing Middle School, Sequiota Park, Springfield Conservation Nature Center and the "old iron bridge" over the James River.
