Father's
Day
Ideas
June means the start of incredible weather, school vacations, the opening of lakes and swimming pools, and of course Father’s Day! This year, celebrate the father figures in your life with engaging, family activities that are a break from the normal weekend routine.
Rutledge-Wilson Park
The Rutledge-Wilson Family Farm Park will host a Father's Day event from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 17th. Dads can enjoy bluegrass music, barbecue treats, and building a birdhouse. Fishing poles and equipment, as well as pedal tractors will be available for the children. Some activities do include a small fee.
Dickerson Park Zoo
Dickerson Park Zoo will be holding a celebration for Father’s Day on Sunday, June 18th. The public is welcome to attend this event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Father’s Day. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children, and free for fathers!
Warrior Sports
Make the show Ninja Warrior a reality at Warrior Sports from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Father’s Day! This indoor obstacle course is sure to make the holiday fun for the whole family. Whether you are looking for a work out or an adventurous outing, Warrior Sports is the place to go! The cost is $10 per participant or there are punch cards for multiple visits!
World’s Best Dad 5K
Whether it is due to distance or lack of mobility, the virtual World’s Best Dad 5K race is a great idea for a child and father to do something together. This event was inspired by a father and his son later recognized as Team Hoyt that wanted to support a paralyzed athlete and has become an interactive way to support America’s disabled young people. The cost is $17 and the money received from ticket sales goes towards the Team Hoyt movement, local charities, and the participant will receive a medal and bib.
Rose Ceremony Remembrance
While most events for Father’s Day feature the father being present, there are many people that are not able to enjoy the holiday that way this year. Birthdays and holidays tend to be bittersweet when there is the absence of a loved one, but our community does have an event to support the loss of either a father or child. The Father’s Day Rose Ceremony Remembrance event will be held at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens on the afternoon of June 18th. There is no cost for this event and registration can be done online or by calling the event coordinator by June 9th.
