CHP Blood Drive – Racin’ to Save Lives

Cox HealthPlans and CoxHealth Network will once again be taking part in the annual Racin' to Save Lives 2016 Blood Drive competition between CoxHealth & Mercy.

The bloodmobile truck will be parked out on the west side of our building and will be here on June 22nd, from 8:00 am to 12.

Racin' to Save Lives is a friendly competition between CoxHealth and Mercy. Over the course of several months, each hospital system is hosting multiple blood drives at various locations to see which one can bring in the most donors. The real winners, however, are always the patients who benefit from the blood donations.

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks donors provide all of the blood for patients at 39 area hospitals, including Cox Branson. Every seven minutes on average, a transfusion takes place and it takes approximately 230 donations each day to meet the area’s blood needs.

To be eligible to give blood, donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present a valid photo ID. Anyone planning to give is encouraged to eat well and drink plenty of fluids prior to the blood drive.
